FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who should attend the OIC?

The OIC is designed specifically for CHOC member owners. Featuring content curated for owner-level interests and concerns, this intimate 1.5 day conference brings together owners from Quality Inn, Clarion, Mainstay, Sleep Inn, Comfort Inn, and Comfort Suites to learn, network, and gain valuable insights for business growth.

This is an exclusive event and attendance is limited. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, so owners are encouraged to commit now, and limit attendance to one owner per property to ensure as many properties as possible are represented at this year’s OIC.

How many people may attend from each property?

Member owners may bring as many co-owners as they wish; however, because we are eager to have as many properties represented as possible, a fee of $1500 (full conference registration fee) is charged for each additional owner from a single property.

What does the OIC cost to attend?

For the first owner representing any individual property, attendance is free; however, owners are required to attend and participate in six qualifying event activities while onsite. Please check the event app for qualifying event activities.

Why is a credit card required for online registration if the event is free?

Credit card information is collected as a precaution and will only be charged cancellation fees if owners cancel reservations after the cancellation window, or if an owner does not participate in the mandatory number of qualifying activities.

What is a “qualifying activity”?

A qualifying activity is a session/activity where an owner’s attendee badge is scanned to receive credit for the hotel room voucher and registration fee credit (one per property), which are distributed at the end of the conference.

Vouchers will be available beginning at 11:30AM on Tuesday, November 7th. To see up to date qualifying activities, please check the agenda in your mobile app.

Do attendees pay for their own travel?

Yes, attendees are responsible for their own airfare, ground transportation and non-hosted meals. Each property will receive one hotel room voucher and one owner registration fee credit with full participation in qualifying activities described above. Note – there is a maximum of one voucher/credit per property.

Can spouses attend?

Yes, there are two ways spouses can join:

  1. As an additional owner from the same property at full conference attendance fee with no reimbursement
    or...

  2. For meal functions only at partial conference attendance fee of $1,000 with no reimbursement

Is onsite walk-up registration available?

No. All registration must be completed prior to the event.

What are the onsite service desk hours?

While onsite walk-up registration is not available, owners may visit the service desk to check in, receive credentials, and ask questions.

Our service desk will be open:

Sunday, November 5, 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Monday, November 6, 7:30 AM - 10:00 AM

No other desk hours will be available until certificate pick-up, which begins at 11:30AM, November 7th.

What happens if owners miss registration?

Owners may still attend sessions but will not receive attendee credentials for access to meal functions, room vouchers, or registration credit.

How do owners reserve hotel rooms?

Visit the hotels page and click the “Book Your Room” link. Please be aware only one sleeping room voucher per property is provided. Vouchers are only available at the host property, and owners must attend the six required sessions to qualify.

I’m local to the area. I don’t need a sleeping room at the host property. What should I do?

Owners who do not need a sleeping room may visit the service desk with their credentials during hours of operation (see above for service desk hours). Owners who do not need a sleeping room will still be eligible for the registration credit for a single property.

What is the attire for the event?

Attire is business casual for all functions. The one exception is the Monday night reception and dinner, where we encourage you to celebrate in your favorite semi-formal party attire!

Why is so much participation mandatory?

CHOC wants your property to thrive and truly believes in the quality of the OIC and its ability to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of your business. This is why we cover the cost of participation for one key leader from each property. We want you to make the most of this unique meeting, which includes participating in as many learning opportunities as possible so you can take what you have experienced back to your teams.

What if I want to cancel my registration?

You may cancel your registration without penalty by October 24, 2023. There is a $1500 penalty for all cancellations received after October 24, 2023.
